Services, in specific.
Hard landscaping and considered planting across Hampshire. Nine services grouped into three areas — the surfaces underfoot, the structures that hold the garden together, and the detail that completes a build. Every service page is written by the studio, not pulled from a brochure.
Underfoot, level.
The horizontal plane of the garden. Paving sets the tempo, the driveway sets the arrival, the lawn holds the centre. Done well, you stop noticing them — and that's the point.
Paving
Sandstone, porcelain, granite. Random course, single-size, mixed-format — laid wet on a full mortar bed, hand-cut at the edges, finished with the joint compound that suits the stone.
Service detailDriveways
Resin-bound, block-paved, gravel-on-grid. Properly engineered sub-base, falls programmed, edges retained. The work that decides whether a driveway looks good in year ten.
Service detailTurfing
Lawns laid on prepared soil, levelled, edge-detailed. Cultivar choice matched to aspect and use. Re-lawning, new lawns, or full ground reset where the existing turf is beyond saving.
Service detailWalls, beds & frames.
The vertical elements that give a garden its bones. Brickwork carries the architecture, sleeper structures hold the ground, pergolas and fencing define the boundary. None of these are decorative.
Brickwork
Walls, edges, planters, retaining detail. Reclaimed Hampshire stock, Ibstock multi, Staffordshire blue engineering brick — chosen against the surrounding fabric, laid in the right bond, pointed properly.
Service detailSleeper raised beds
Pressure-treated softwood or oak. Rebated joinery, capped tops, lined and drained. A built bed, not a stack of timber — designed before built, integrated with the wider hardscape.
Service detailPergolas
Hand-built oak. Designed before built, jointed on site, sized for the garden. A pergola strong enough to be worth holding plants — not a structure that exists to hold them.
Service detailFencing
Closeboard, slatted contemporary, hit-and-miss, hardwood feature. Properly set posts, true levels, finishes considered. Done badly, fencing undoes the rest of the garden — we treat it as part of the build.
Service detailPlants & joinery.
The work that completes a build. Considered planting palettes that earn their place around the hardscape. Hand-built benches, integrated with the architecture, set where the eye says they should sit.
Planting
Considered planting palettes around the hardscape. Soil prep, structural plants first, seasonal interest layered behind. A planting plan you receive on paper, not a trolley of compromised stock.
Service detailHand-built benches
Built into the wall — set on brick, integrated with the joinery, sitting where the eye says they should sit. The good benches aren't furniture. They're part of the architecture.
