Riverside village, mix of older waterfront properties (some with mooring access) and characterful village core, with modern infill housing. Some salt exposure on the river side; sheltered conditions further inland. Generally well-drained ground over gravel.
Working the area
Five to ten minutes from the studio. Regular work in the broader Bursledon / Lower Swanwick / Old Bursledon area.
Material decisions
Full studio palette. Waterfront-facing gardens benefit from some attention to coastal specification — vitrified porcelain over softer stone, marine-grade stainless, salt-tolerant planting on south-facing aspects.
In practice
The studio archive doesn't yet feature a Bursledon project, but the area is on the doorstep. Full hardscape, Warsash 2025 is fifteen minutes away by road, less if you happen to have a boat.
