Whiteley. New-build country.

A planned community with consistent housing typology. New gardens benefit from co-ordinated hardscape that ages with the build.

Gardens here

Predominantly 1990s-2010s new-build housing — Whiteley village and the surrounding Solent Way / Yew Tree Drive estates. Mid-size rear gardens, typically left as developer-grade lawn at handover with limited hardscape. Strong design opportunity: clean slate, no heritage constraints, consistent housing typology.

Working the area

Fifteen to twenty minutes from the studio along the M27. Regular work in the broader Whiteley / Park Gate / Fareham West area.

Material decisions

Full studio palette suits Whiteley. New-build gardens benefit from a single coherent hardscape language across the plot rather than incremental additions over time. Sleeper raised beds, a defined entertaining terrace, a structural path — three strong moves often resolve a Whiteley garden completely.

In practice

The studio archive doesn't yet feature a Whiteley project. Garden composition, Warsash 2025 is the closest reference build — also a new-build plot, also a clean slate, resolved through co-ordinated hardscape.
