Older properties around the castle and the original village streets — mature, characterful, often with established planting. Newer estates around the periphery — modern housing with mid-size suburban gardens. Mix of plot sizes, generally good light.

Working the area

Twenty to twenty-five minutes from the studio via the M27. Familiar territory.

Material decisions

The older streets reward reclaimed brick and traditional palettes. Newer-build gardens take the full studio range — porcelain, sandstone, granite, sleeper structures, integrated lighting.

In practice

The studio archive doesn't yet feature a Portchester project. Bottom-of-garden patio, Fareham 2025 is fifteen minutes away and gives a clear read on traditional-palette studio work.
